Despite its short history, the Centre is one of the most popular and well-established Language Centres in Georgia. The aim of the TSU Language Centre is to deliver practical courses both to the students who would like to become specialists of English language and to those who learn English for professional purposes.
The Centre offers a range of modern courses in foreign languages to students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) as major subjects within the Faculty of Humanities and as optional ones within different faculties. The Centre also provides a wide range of short courses in foreign languages to TSU students as well as to those native and non-native members of the public who wish either to raise their level of foreign language competence or just get professional advice on how to maintain a successful communication in a foreign speaking society.
The Centre provides with stimulating and rewarding learning courses for every level from Beginners to Proficiency for the group classes, small specialist tutorials or on a one-to-one basis. The Centre elaborates courses to cover many specialist areas to suit every student's individual learning goals.
The list of the foreign languages taught at the Centre comprises a combination of European, Caucasian, Classic and Oriental Language courses together with the Georgian as a foreign Language.

We welcome groups of students and have a great deal of experience from one to one or small groups of 12 students to larger ones. We make every effort to ensure a well -balanced and culturally-mixed student population. The Centre welcomes all level students. We make a special effort to assist the students of all levels in making fast and permanent progress. All level classes in all 20 languages with different degree of intensity are offered throughout the year. Below you can find the list of the courses offered by the Centre.
a)
General Language Courses are intended to enrich the knowledge of the language mainly by focusing on the four essential skills: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. During each course the students actively work to develop both, oral and written fluency and accuracy in the language by performing various in-class and homework activities both individually and in groups.
According to Common European Framework teaching is provided on the following six levels:
A1-beginner level- This course is for absolute beginners. It aims to give students a basic knowledge of reading, listening, speaking and writing skills in a dynamic and communicative way, through individual, pair and group works, studio-based and authentic texts. The focus is on accuracy as well as communication.
A2- Elementary level- This course is aimed at the students who have completed a beginner level accordingly, they should have some basic literacy and limited vocabulary in language focused. The course will help them handle some of the basic grammatical structures of selected language; communicate orally and in written form in a limited number of social occasions.
B1-Pre-Intermediate level- These courses are designed for students who wish to move quickly through the fundamentals of grammar while developing some basic communicative skills. It aims to teach students simple structures and lexis which will enable them to communicate effectively in a range of situations in a foreign speaking country. The course is for those who do not feel confident enough to proceed directly to Intermediate Level or who would like more time to consolidate material introduced earlier.
B2- Intermediate level- These courses aim to develop skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. It lays emphasis on communication and comprehension skills but also builds on the grammar base acquired in elementary courses. Topics covered earlier will be revised and extended and new themes will be introduced that will develop their understanding of the society and culture of contemporary foreign speaking world.
C1-Post-Intermediate level-The courses are designed to facilitate students understand extended speech, most TV news programmes and films, read articles about contemporary problems which put forward arguments and different points of view; speak with some fluency and spontaneity and take an active part in discussions; give a presentation on a specialist subject, outlining advantages and disadvantages of particular cases, write essays, reports and letters, putting forward personal points of view.
C2- Advanced level-The course will assist students use contemporary vocabulary, advanced grammar and styles as related to registers encountered in current affair medias, modern literature, films, songs, and academic production; weekly practice of listening skills through comprehension exercises based on advanced level podcasts, broadcasts, or films; the exploration and guided discussion in small groups of social, political and cultural issues related to the foreign language speaking world; the regular production of small translation passages and of writing tasks (letter, narrative, argumentative essay, etc.).
b) Exam Preparation Courses :
English :
TOEFL, GMAT, Cambridge ESOL Examinations: FCE, CAE, IELTS, BEC Vantage and BEC higher exams
FCE (First Certificate in English) - the course is intended for people who can use everyday written and spoken English at an upper-intermediate level. It is an ideal exam for people who want to use English for work or study purposes.
CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) - CAE is an exam for advanced users of English and it is widely recognised for work or study purposes. This course is aimed at people who can use written and spoken English for most professional and social purposes.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - IELTS is increasingly required by educational institutions, along with employers and government immigration agencies as a proof of English language proficiency designed to determine the ability of non-native speakers of English who intend to study or train in English.skills as part of their recruitment or admittance procedures. Accordingly, the course is designed to practice the tests that cover the full range of ability from non–user to expert user.
BEC Vantage and BEC higher (Business English Certificate) - These courses are constructed for those who want to show employers their skills for using English in the workplace. It is ideal for those who have an understanding of, or interest in, the world of work, business and commerce.
c) Special purpose courses, such as English for lawyers and business professionals- the courses can be designed according to the need of an individual or a company to help them build up a good business and legal communication skills in English, both in written and oral form, to develop the basic presentation skills and to standardise Business and Legal English in order to reach to an international business communication level.

Passing the Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Fit in Deutsch 1 examination proves that you can make yourself understood in simple German. The examination requires a basic knowledge of German. It corresponds to level one (A1) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Start Deutsch 1 requires very basic language skills. The examination corresponds to level one (A1) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Fit 2
Passing the Goethe-Zertifikat A2: Fit in Deutsch 2 examination proves that you can make yourself understood in simple German. The examination corresponds to level two (A2) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The Goethe-Zertifikat A2: Start Deutsch 2 calls for elementary language skills. The examination corresponds to level two (A2) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
The Goethe-Zertifikats B1: Zertifikat Deutsch (ZD) proves that you have a sound basic knowledge of everyday German and that you have the language skills required for dealing with all kinds of different situations encountered every day. The examination corresponds to level three (B1) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Zertifikat Deutsch für den Beruf corresponds to level four (B2) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and calls for an independent command of the language.
The Goethe-Zertifikat B2 requires advanced language skills. The examination corresponds to level four (B2) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Adults
TestDAF
The TestDaF is a language examination at an advanced level. It covers levels B2 to C1 of the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference. The TestDaF exam is the language qualification that facilitates admission to university and is recognized by every university in Germany.
No specialist knowledge is required.
By passing the Prüfung Wirtschaftsdeutsch International (PWD) examination, you prove that you can make yourself understood appropriately and react adequately in everyday work situations. The examination corresponds to level five (C1) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The Goethe-Zertifikat C1 calls for very advanced language skills. It corresponds to level five (C1) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages..
Both the Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom (KDS) and the Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung (ZOP) call for very highly advanced linguistic skills. They both correspond to the sixth and highest level (C2) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The examinations have a strong focus on literature.
The Große Deutsche Sprachdiplom (GDS) requires more advanced language skills than any other examination offered by the Goethe-Institut. It exceeds the highest level (C2) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

DELF – (Diploma d’ Etude de la Langue Française) for the following levels: A1, A2, B1, B2
