Transfer of Payments

Please note that payments made by one student cannot be transferred to another student at the Centre, except at the discretion of the Director. Course changes from one level to another are free of charge.

Refund

If you are refused entry to Georgia by the immigration or visa authorities, or if an extension of your visa is declined, then a full refund will usually be granted. The only exception to this is if the refusal is connected with a breach of the law or a breach of the visa conditions or if a visa is refused as a consequence of not attending the course regularly. Refund applications must be made in writing accompanied with detailed reasons for the refund request, and any relevant documentary evidence.

General Information

Open All Year Round

The centre is open all year round, with the exception of the public holidays and a week holiday at Christmas and New Year. If you have not done so already, you are free to visit the Centre at any time – just let us know when you are coming.
The Centre's office is opened before 9am until approximately 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

Class Allocation

Students should note that each student is tested via placement test so that he/she is placed in a class suited to the level of ability. We do our best to ensure that students can study at the time chosen. Sometimes this may not be possible and your placement into a class may be different so as to preserve the most effective learning environment for our students.

Length of Courses

There is a minimum enrolment period at the Centre of 4 weeks. The exception to this is one-to-one instruction. The duration of each level is with the maximum of 3 months .  The courses vary in length according to intensity. We offer Regular Classes (6 hrs/wk), Semi-Intensive (15 hrs/wk), Intensive Plus (20 hrs/wk) and Super Intensive (25 hrs/wk) courses.

Attendance

You will be expected to attend every class in accordance with your timetable. Because of the nature of language learning, good attendance is expected on the language courses. Most students find that they fall behind if they do not attend regularly. The Centre keeps records of the attendance of students. Personal tutors are advised regularly of poor attendance at our courses and this information is recorded in student files. Absences will not be recorded if you bring a doctor's note or a note from your personal tutor. No refunds are given in respect of missed classes. If you attend fewer than 75% of classes, you may be refused an overall mark (or credit in case of TSU students under the Faculty curricula) for the course unit.

Books

Students will need class books.  Books may be purchased from the bookshop at the TSU or other bookshops around the city.

Assignments and Homework

Because language learning is skill based you will be asked to do more work at home than is normal on lecture courses. This work may not take more than half an hour of forty-five minutes, but it is essential that it is done regularly and handed in for correction. You will not be able to learn everything a week before an examination and regular independent learning must take place if you are to progress with your language studies.

Assessment and Feedback

The majority of the courses have regular tests throughout the year. You will receive feedback on your performance in your chosen language informally, following class activities, and formally following assessed tasks.

At the end of the course, you will be provided with a certificate, which outlines the level and standard you have achieved. TSU students taking the language course within the Faculty curricula are granted with 5 credits for each term.

Facilities at the Centre

To those enrolled in the courses the language centre offers a variety of open learning facilities -with multi-media self-access and teaching facilities, such as PCs, Audio and Video recourses: tape-recorders, TV and video viewing, recording facilities and OHPs that are freely available in the computerized auditoriums of the University. Other resources such as textbooks and supplementary materials, CDs, video and audio cassettes are accessible in different book-shops of the city.

Location

The Centre is located on 36 Chavchavadze Avenue which is the central part of Tbilisi. The Centre is situated in a three-storey building, a short stroll from the Rustaveli Underground station. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the Centre building from the Rustaveli Underground Station. The Centre is also easily accessible by frequent traditional yellow buses.  This location is ideal, as we are within walking distance from the libraries, cafes, shops, etc. We believe the Centre building is large, spacious attractive, with its pleasant classrooms, library and self-study facilities.
