The TSU center for languages is a flatly growing and progressing institution already having a number of successful achievements and setting far-reaching aims and objectives to compete on a global scale.
Currently it is still in the process of maintaining more and more prestigious relations with other local or international organizations such as British Council, American Council, Goethe Institute, Embassies of France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Japan, etc., contributing a lot into further development of contemporary teaching in Georgia.The Centre is actively working to build up better the relations both with the national and international educational institutions.
The Centre is constantly working on its development as well as on qualification of the Centre teachers. Within three years 12 teacher development trainings have been conducted for the Centre teachers facilitating them to upgrade and modernize the teaching methods in order to be competitive on the global market.
Also, together with the British Council the centre has initiated the cooperation with ESOL to gain the right for holding the Cambridge ESOL Examinations which comprise the internationally acknowledged range of certificates for learners and teachers of English - taken by over 3 million people in 130 countries. TSU Centre will have the right to organise the paper-based exams as well as the computer-based ones. As the Centre is already offering the preparation courses for ESOL Examinations it is very convenient for the students to prepare and pass the exams at one and the same centre.
Additionally, TSU Language Centre in cooperation with British Council has pioneered the membership with TESOL , the mission of which is to develop and maintain professional expertise in English Language teaching and learning for speakers of other languages worldwide. Cooperating with TESOL will help Georgian teachers to enhance professionalism in language teaching, promote interaction of research education and reflective practice for educational improvement, to enable learners and teachers have an accessible, high-quality education and push forward the integration in a global community.
The Centre has elaborated the programmes for school teachers which have recently been accredited by the Ministry of Education and Science gaining the Centre the right to deliver the trainings for the language teachers granting them with credits.
Additionally, it should be mentioned here the Centre’s close collaboration with ETAG (English Language Teachers Association) and the joint projects implemented for further professional development of the Centre teachers as well as the client teachers.
The Centre, since its establishment, has been maintaining relations with the significant clients such as the Embassy of Turkey the representatives of which have taken Super-Intensive (25 hrs/wk) course in Georgian as a foreign language. The Centre hopes to preserve and further develop productive collaboration with other clients to provoke interest in studies of Georgian Language.
Indeed, we believe that the adaptability, cultural openness and communicative competence associated with the language learning process are core and indispensable quality of educated citizens living and working in the knowledge societies of the 21st century.
