TSU- White Temple of Wisdom
Founded in 1918 by the prominent Georgian historian Ivane Javakhishvili and his team of Georgian intelligentsia, Tbilisi State University (TSU) was the first University in Caucasus. Its distinctive character has been forged by its history, by its location, and by its vision -- a blend of the old and the new, of the traditional and the innovative. Despite the Communist rule the TSU maintained its aspiration to serve the nation and encourage the knowledge and provide world-renowned scientists, and scientific schools in mathematics, psychology, philosophy, linguistics, history and others. After the fall of the Soviet Union the TSU committed itself to advancing knowledge, culture and science and to promote democratic values and ideals.
Goals
For all students (undergraduate, graduate and PHD), the university puts emphasis on the following:

TSU follows the modern European system of education and quality assurance: Tbilisi State University has been part of the Bologna process since 2005 and shares the principles pertinent to the European higher education institutions in the organization of its studies and programs. This implies building quality assurance and expert evaluations. The quality of study programs are assured by the evaluation processes including internal assessment, external review, international participation and co-operation. According to the European University Association Tbilisi State University was named as an outstanding reformer in the year of 2006.
TSU is an active member of prestigious international networks: European University Association (EUA), Black Sea University Network (BSU) and Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF).
